Most summers, my friend Sherry and her husband host a summer party.  This year’s bash was yesterday.  Since Stephen was working on a project, I headed down to her house with the kids after nap time.  I wasn’t sure how long I’d last with the kids.  It’s hard to take two kids to a party solo.

But, everything changed once we arrived.  Sherry took the kids and I down to the bounce house and introduced us to two older girls.  She let us know that they were hired to help with kids and everyone should have fun.  I was so excited.  Not having to stand by the bounce house most of the evening was an awesome thought.

I enjoyed plenty of adult time on the deck, keeping an eye on the kids every once in a while.  Nick made up his own rules for corn hole.

Sally tried her hand at a hula hoop.

She was having a blast.  Nick’s in the background at the craft table.  There was plenty for the kids to do including art projects, sidewalk chalk, and of course the bounce house.

Later the kids played some games like Duck, Duck, Goose.

The party was complete with tents, tables, food and great company.  I was able to enjoy myself to the fullest, and chat with friends that I haven’t see in quite a while.

It was the perfect night for an end of summer party.  Thanks Sherry!

Our final stop on Easter was also down in Akron.  One of my best friend’s from high school was in town with his family from Italy.  His mom hosted an egg hunt.  Since we don’t get to see them often, we headed there around 5:30PM.

Sally and A are only 5 months apart, so they had a great time together.

While we waited for the egg hunt and grabbed a bite to eat, Nick and Sally enjoyed some yard vehicles.

Soon, it was time for Nick and Sally’s 3rd egg hunt in 2 days.

This was definitely the biggest of the three.  I think there were only 5 kids hunting.  Each of them filled their baskets and need to dump their eggs in a bag in order to continue.

There were eggs everywhere.  This house had an awesome yard for a hunt.

It was the first hunt we attended where the kids got tired of hunting before all of the eggs we found.  After they came inside, some of the adults found at least 5 more eggs.

My friend’s wife hung out inside with A’s little sister.  It was fun to meet her for the first time.

My friends are in the states for 5 weeks this year, so we hope to get together with them a couple of more times.

This afternoon, we met up with friends at the Akron Zoo.  It was our 2nd afternoon outing of the week.  It worked out well since Nick and Sally both took naps first, and then we headed to Akron around 2:30PM.  My parents live in Akron, so we made plans to visit them after we finished at the zoo.

Nick and Sally love animals and ran from exhibit to exhibit.  It was a perfect day and time to visit.  It wasn’t hot out, it wasn’t crowded and everyone was in a good mood.

This carousel lion was a hit.  NIck and Sally climbed right up.

We were only at the zoo around an hour and that worked well.  We dined with my parents and enjoyed some time with them this evening.  My mom gave the kids baths and that was nice for me since Stephen’s out of town until Friday.  He’s enjoying a couple of days off before I leave for Hawaii.

Yesterday, we went to Uniontown for Chuck and Sherry’s Summer Bash.  It was a great event complete with grilling, watermelon, great company and a bounce house.  Sherry and I have been friends for more than 20 years and even though we don’t see each other often, we never have any trouble picking up where we left off.

I’m not sure how many people were at the party, but Nick and Sally definitely enjoyed the Bounce House with all of the other kids.  Sally also spent some time playing corn hole.

Sometimes, Sally and Nick needed a break from the action.  They enjoyed this swing.

Even though storms were in the forecast, we had a beautiful night for an outside party.  We can’t wait for next year!

Today was fun!  We had friends in town from Minnesota and we met up with them at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.  It was the first time that Ging met my daughter and I hadn’t seen her or her kids in a couple of years.  She’s one of my 3 decade friends.  I’ve been blessed by having great long time friends in my life.  We can just pick up where we left off and always have a great time.  We enjoyed the museum and then had a picnic near the dinosaur.  The weather was great and so was the company.
