Today was the first pick up for the winter program with our Fresh Fork CSA.  It was also our first pick up in the dark.  Since we are on to the winter program, Mayfield is no longer a pick up site, so we pick up in Beachwood.  Thursdays, Nick and Sally have swim lessons, so we pick up on the late side around 5:30PM.  Stephen is a great help and set up the lights for me so I could take decent photos.

IMG_5930

Here’s what we were expecting this week:

Winter Week 1:

  • 1 whole pasture raised chicken, approx. 5 lbs.
  • 2 spaghetti squash (unless we have a few enormous ones)
  • 1 half gallon apple cider
  • 1 quarter peck Winesap apples
  • 1 handful sweet peppers (all of them are sweet, even though some look hot)
  • 1 bunch turnip greens
  • 1 bunch kale
  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 1 bunch beets with tops
  • 1 stalk Brussels sprouts
  • 1/2 lb. bag stir fry mix

And, it’s exactly what we received.

I was excited to see the Brussels sprouts.  I’ve been eyeing this recipe from my pal Katie.  I’m thawing my bacon for it now.  I have all of the other ingredients on hand.  We were out of eggs, so I was glad to get them in my bag this week.  I’ve made the butternut squash custard drink a couple of times now and don’t want to be out of eggs just in case I want to make it again.

IMG_5932IMG_5933

These are the turnip greens.  We don’t get them too often.  My go to recipe for greens that I don’t know what to do with is quiche.  So, I’ll probably make one of them this week.  It will include some leftover chicken and turnip greens.  And, it’s another reason that I’m glad we got eggs this week (although I also have some eggs frozen that I could use).  I like cooking the whole chickens.  We had them a lot growing up, so they never intimidated me.  I like making stock and using all of the pieces.

IMG_5935IMG_5943

The different colors of cauliflower have been fun.  I’ll make this as a side dish and maybe serve them mashed.  The stir fry mix will go into a stir fry.  Wasn’t that an original idea.  I may combine it with some spaghetti squash and serve it Asian style.

IMG_5937IMG_5941

My family isn’t a big fan of the spaghetti squash with tomato squash.  I need to investigate some additional recipes for it.  The peppers will go into chili that I am making tomorrow.

IMG_5940IMG_5938

I’ll probably just sauté the kale.  I don’t have anything specific in mind.  I’ll make Harvard beets and use the greens in some eggs this week.

IMG_5936IMG_5942

Apples almost always go in oatmeal and for snacks.  These will be no exception.  I don’t like apple cider.  I may decide to try it again some day, but it always has given me a headache.  That being said, Stephen, Nick and Sally all like it so they will enjoy it this week.

IMG_5939IMG_5934

So, our winter season is off and running.  Three weeks in a row and then we go to every other week until May.  I love the CSAs, but I am also looking forward to a break in the action so we can use some of our preserved food.  I also need to start cooking some of the lamb soon.

Today we had a cold and rainy pickup.  We gifted our greeter with a hot Starbucks beverage.  Starbucks makes everything better.  The kids enjoyed their special chocolate milk and it was a nice treat.  We arrived at the pick up just about 4PM when it opened and were in and out quickly.  We didn’t stay and hang out due to the weather.  There’s only so much room under the tent.

IMG_5728

I’m starting to recognize the weather based on our bags.  It’s October and getting cooler.  We’re seeing more greens again and the start of more winterish crops like potatoes, rutabagas and cabbage.

Here’s what we were expecting to receive this week:

  • 1 head either savoy green cabbage or red cabbage (smaller heads)
  • 1 bunch kale
  • 1 to 2 rutabagas with tops, depending on size (some are rather large)
  • 3# bag red Norland potatoes
  • Approx. 1# onion
  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 8 oz. piece goat gouda
  • 1 lb. Spelt Flour and Rosemary Linguini
  • 2# Roma tomatoes
  • 1 bunch Swiss chard
  • 1 package sirloin pork chops, approx. 1.5#
  • 1 carving pumpkin or bag of corn chips

It’s definitely the end of tomato season.  These are the “good” side of these Romas.  I have a couple that aren’t going to be usable.  We’ll be making mashed rutabaga/potatoes or creamy soup with those ingredients.

IMG_5731IMG_5733

We ate the cauliflower for dinner with the pasta.  It was tasty.  It had one bad spot so I wanted to wash, cook and eat it quickly.

IMG_5745IMG_5734

I’m a little behind on cooking our cabbage.  This will be a 2 head consumption week!

IMG_5735IMG_5736

I’ll chop and add the onion to the “unstuffed cabbage recipe I hope to put in the crockpot tomorrow.  The small sweet peppers were a nice surprise.  I might stuff them with the red pepper Havarti from last week and roast them in the oven.

IMG_5738IMG_5737

We had a choice between pumpkins and chips.  We took the chips since we already have a pumpkin.  If I could find some mild black bean and corn salsa from Blaze, we’d be all set.  The pork will probably get baked for a meal this weekend.

IMG_5739IMG_5740

I’m not sure what to use the Gouda for.  It’s probably going to be enjoyed in its own so we can taste the flavors.  I don’t think I’ve ever had goat Gouda before.  We also have more greens this week.  Swiss chard and kale.  I’m pretty sure the Swiss chard will go into the Andouille sausage/sweet potato dish similar to what we made last week.

IMG_5741IMG_5743

I haven’t decided on a use for the kale yet.  We may have another quiche in the cue for this week.  That’s one of my go to dishes when I don’t know what to do with a green.

IMG_5744

It’s hard to believe that next week is the last week for summer.  I’m glad there no break before the winter CSA starts!  I’m also starting to think about getting a turkey.  We don’t host Thanksgiving at our house, but last year I bought a package anyway since we like many of the ingredients.  It was just a bit too much food at our house all at once.  If I buy a turkey, I’d cut it up and freezer the parts and probably also make some turkey sausage.  I need to decide soon.  Turkey deliveries are three and a half weeks away.

Today, I had a rare pick up without the kids.  I had been at a doctor appointment and headed up to the high school from there.  It was strange.  I havemixed feelings about today’s bag.  I have “go to” uses for so many of our CSA items, but mustard greens, mixed greens (braising?) and Napa cabbage are not included.  But, there are many items like cider, beans, squash, cheese, apples, etc. that I am excited to see.

IMG_5638

Here’s what we were expecting to receive:

  • 1 head Napa cabbage
  • 1 8 oz. chunk pepper Havarti
  • 1 bunch mustard greens
  • 1 lb. black beans
  • 1 half lb. mixed greens
  • 1 head broccoli
  • 1 acorn squash
  • 1 half gallon apple cider
  • 1 quarter peck Empire Red apples
  • 1 bunch collard greens
  • 1 butternut squash
  • 2 ct. red peppers
  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 head leaf lettuce
  • 1 package, 1.25 lb., Andouille sausage (Smokey, Spanish sausage)

I roasted lots of butternut squash this week.  I think I’ll save this one for a few days and then try the squash/bean burritos that I read about last week.

IMG_5639IMG_5640

The local broccoli is always delicious.  I’ll use it for a side dish soon.  I love that we received purple cauliflower.  It is really bright and fun!

IMG_5641IMG_5642

Pepper cheese is not usually my favorite, but this cheese is really good.  I’m probably going to have it with eggs.  The lettuce is very crisp looking and also a really small head.  It will make one individual salad.

IMG_5643IMG_5644

I haven’t made my stuff acorn squash yet this season.  This might just be the week for it.  The peppers will get chopped for salads.

IMG_5645IMG_5646

Apples tend to disappear without any work.  We put the sausage in the freezer.  I see some more of the sweet potato hash in our future.  The kids thought it was too spicy, but Stephen and I can eat it for lunches.

IMG_5647IMG_5648

I’m too tired to think much about the greens.  I read up on mustard greens, so I am a little less afraid of them.  But, I still don’t know what my plan will be.  We get these bagged mixed greens often, so I need to figure out a way to use them.  I just think they are bitter.

IMG_5649IMG_5650

I’ll probably chop the collards and cook them with taco meat.  I have no idea about the Napa cabbage, so I need to look at that one on line.

IMG_5651IMG_5652

I’m surprised that the cider has been here for several hours and is still unopened.  Nick, Sally and Stephen will love it.  It’s too sweet for me.

IMG_5653

Weeks like this leave me in awe with the huge variety of items that we can obtain locally.

I have a full day tomorrow and then Sunday will be “use the greens day”.

Today was a perfect autumn day for a CSA pickup.  We had some logistical issues this week and at one point considered Solon, Mayfield, Beachwood, Hudson and Mentor as possible sites.  We ended up making it to our normal spot at Mayfield.  I was glad to visit with Kirsten and Robert for a bit during a slower time.

IMG_5506

Here’s what we are expecting to receive:

  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 3# sweet potatoes
  • 1 head cauliflower (some will be cheddar, purple, or green varieties)
  • 1 head leaf lettuce
  • 1 head baby Bok Choy
  • 1 pint grape tomatoes
  • 1 lb. chorizo sausage links
  • 2# cornmeal
  • 2 ct. red peppers
  • Red onion (s)
  • 2 ct. zucchini
  • Approx. 1.5 lbs. tomatoes
  • 2 ct. eggplant (or 1 if they are enormous)
  • 1 lb. pumpkin sage linguini
  • 1 quarter peck Cortland apples

They were out of slicing tomatoes.  I was happy since I was offered spinach as a replacement.  I have too many tomatoes in the freezer already.  Everything else on the list was dead on!

I’m behind on egg use a bit.  I see some hardboiled ones in our future.  Maybe I’ll make a small batch of deviled eggs for Sunday’s pig roast.  We’ll use the peppers in eggs and salads this week.

IMG_5507IMG_5508

Last year, we found that either Andouille or Chorizo could be used in this recipe.  So, it’s definitely on the agenda for this week.  I remember it being extremely delicious.

IMG_5520IMG_5510

I tossed the pumpkin sage linguini in the freezer since we have a busy few days ahead.  I’m sure it will be tasty.  I’ve never met an Ohio City pasta that I didn’t like.

IMG_5511IMG_5516

I’m going to make a veggie lasagna this week.  I’ll use the squash and eggplant in that dish.

IMG_5509IMG_5512

We haven’t picked any tomatoes from our garden lately.  I’m sure these will be welcome snacks.

IMG_5513IMG_5514

I’ll sauté the Bok Choy for Stephen one day.  He likes the Asian flavors.  The apples will be great for our oatmeal.  We made all of our other apples into sauce.

IMG_5515IMG_5518

The lettuce will go for salads.  The cauliflower will make a great side dish with some chicken we have ready to eat in the fridge.

IMG_5517IMG_5519

To make make room for our 1/2 lamb, I’m making a pot of chili.  Some cornbread will make a nice side to go with it.

IMG_5521

I’m glad it’s cooler out and love cooking this time of year.

Today was a rainy, but very green pick up.  We haven’t seen this much green since the spring.

IMG_5392

Here’s what we were expecting to receive this week:

  • 1 lb. city chicken (cubed Berkshire pork)
  • 1 head broccoli
  • 1 bunch turnips
  • 1 spaghetti squash
  • A handful Croatian peppers
  • 1 bunch beets
  • 1 bunch mustard greens
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 bunch kale
  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 lb. bulk Italian Sausage
  • Approx. 1 lb. onions
  • 8 oz. piece smoked cheddar cheese

We actually had our choice of the city chicken or a pork tenderloin.  We haven’t had tenderloin in ages and I had never had city chicken.  I ended up buying one as an extra.  The Italian sausage I cooked up to go with some pasta for dinner tonight.

IMG_5402IMG_5400

Turnips are hard for me, but I’ve been perusing some new recipes.  Cabbage is always welcome in our house.  I’ll probably make unstuffed cabbage this week.

IMG_5398IMG_5393

Local broccoli is one of my favorites.  It will probably be part of tomorrow’s dinner.  I’ll use the peppers in quiche or chili this week.

IMG_5396IMG_5394

I’m going to prep the greens by sautéing all of them in the morning.  That way they will be easy to add to quiche, eggs or other dishes throughout the week.

IMG_5395IMG_5397

I’ll probably include the onion when I sauté.

IMG_5399IMG_5403

The smoked cheddar will go into quiche or perhaps some butternut squash burritos that I was just reading about.  We ate most of the cauliflower at dinner tonight.  The left over will be part of lunch tomorrow.

IMG_5401IMG_5407

I love winter squash, but spaghetti squash is not my favorite.  I must research a new way to prepare it.  We are still finishing up our last two.

IMG_5404

I missed apples this week.  Hopefully, Stephen will be taking the kids picking tomorrow and we can make some applesauce this week.  Last year, we canned many quarts and still didn’t have enough to get through the winter months.

We picked up our bag at Mayfield this week.  It was the heaviest bag ever.  I had to split it into two bags to carry it to the car.

IMG_3924

Here’s what we were expecting to receive this week:

  • 1 dz. eggs
  • 1 piece gouda cheese
  • A handful of hot Hungarian peppers
  • Approx. 2 to 3 green peppers, depending on size
  • 1 head cabbage (most will be green)
  • Either 1 pint mixed color cherry tomatoes or about 1.5 lbs. heirloom tomatoes
  • 1 lb. green filet beans
  • 2 ct. cucumbers
  • 1 pint blackberries or approx. 1.5 lbs. peaches
  • 1.5 lbs. spelt berries
  • 1 bunch beets
  • 1 lb. chorizo
  • 1 head broccoli
  • 2 ct. patty pan squash
  • 6 ears sweet corn

I’m going to be preserving peppers and squash tonight.  We have enough of both to can or freeze.  I’m also going to make a small batch of pickles with my cucumbers since I have a few.

IMG_3926IMG_3927

We ate the sweet corn for dinner.  This is one of the weeks when dinner was determined bulkiness.

IMG_3929IMG_3930

We’ll be having beans with lunch tomorrow.  I’m not sure about the tomatoes, but they might just get pureed and frozen for later.

IMG_3931IMG_3932

The cheese will keep a few days.  The peaches won’t be ready to eat for a couple of days, but will go great in our oatmeal.

IMG_3933IMG_3935

The carrots will make a side dish for dinner tomorrow.  These peppers are hot and that is my least favorite Fresh Fork item.  I’ll probably just freeze them for chili this winter.

IMG_3936IMG_3937

We have an abundance of eggs and I’m going to make some custard tomorrow.  I’m also going to hard boil some to have for snacks.  The chorizo was partially thawed, so it will become part of lunch tomorrow.

IMG_3938IMG_3939

The spelt berries are in the pantry.  The beets will get used tomorrow.  I’ll probably make Harvard beets again.  It’s a household favorite.

IMG_3940IMG_3941

The cauliflower was dinner.  I made it “mac and cheese” style.  I used the cauliflower (received instead of broccoli) as the pasta and made a white cheese sauce that used Mayfield Road creamery Smoked Gouda.  It was delicious.  I don’t have plans for the cabbage yet.

IMG_3942IMG_3944

I’m leaving town on Sunday and will be back late on Wednesday.  I should have taken a vacation week with Fresh Fork, but I wasn’t really thinking.  I’m going to prepare and preserve as much as possible before I leave.  My goal is for Stephen to have food for while the kids and I are gone, but not be overwhelmed when he tries to find something in the fridge.  I did sign up for vacation next week.  That will give me a few days of recovery when I get back.  Our freezer is pretty full right now.  I just need a couple of days to make some jam and get a bit organized.  I’m hoping to make time for that next weekend.

Today, we had pick up number 6 for our Geauga Family Farms CSA.  The Whole Food pick up has been different this year.  There’s not one person from Whole Foods manning the pick up.  It’s more of a self serve in the back room and stop at the desk to check off your name.  It’s fine in the back room, the kids and I miss seeing Andrew.

Here’s what we received this week:

IMG_2831

cherry tomatoes, blueberries

IMG_2832IMG_2833

tomato, squash (yellow squash and zucchini)

IMG_2834IMG_2836

cucumber, onion

IMG_2837IMG_2838

lettuce, cauliflower

IMG_2839IMG_2840

green beans, basil

IMG_2841IMG_2842

Stephen and Nick will probably eat all of the cherry tomatoes tomorrow.  I’m glad that’s one item that I never have to worry about.  We are also going to get some out of our garden this year.  We’re psyched about that.  The blueberries made me smile.  I picked 7 pounds of blueberries today, so this container doesn’t seem like much to me.  I froze most of what I picked already.  These will be used on cereal at breakfast or snacks tomorrow.  Nick is in camp this week and has to pack a snack and lunch.  I’ve been trying to give him as many good local items as possible.

I’m going to try squash chips with the squash this week.  I’ve read a few recipes on line and will create my own version of them.  I hope that I can get enough moisture out of them to make them crunchy.  The tomato and lettuce will go in salads.  The cucumber will be chopped up for snacks.

We have quite a bit of onion at the moment.  I’ll try to make fajitas this week.  We still have pepper strips frozen that need used up anyway.  I’m in the mood for homemade whole wheat tortillas so that will work out well.

We’ll have the cauliflower as a side dish one day this week.  We had the beans with dinner tonight.  They were absolutely delicious and there’s just enough left to put a few in Stephen’s lunch tomorrow.

The basil looks a bit tired, but I’m sure it will be tasty. I’m going to make a vinaigrette dressing with it.

I haven’t really tried many actual recipes lately.  I’m planning to carve out some more time for cooking in the next couple of weeks.  I feel like I’m still adjusting from being away on vacation.  I’m already looking forward to next week’s share.

Last week, I was still on vacation for week 4, so I didn’t do a pick up.  My friend Kelly was nice enough to send me a few photos.  I was jealous when I received them on my phone, even though I was at the beach.  I love her photos!

IMG952836

Here’s the list of items for the week:

  • 1 quart of yogurt
  • 1 pt of black raspberries
  • Assorted tree fruit
  • 1 package Italian Sausage links, 1.25 lbs.
  • 2 ct zucchini
  • 1 bunch radishes
  • 1 head green leaf lettuce
  • 1 bunch kale
  • 1 head kohlrabi
  • 1 red bulb onion
  • 1.5 lbs hoop house tomatoes
  • 2 ct cucumbers
  • 1 head broccoli or cauliflower, whichever comes in
  • 1 jar strawberry balsamic sauce made from leftover week 1 strawberries

The highlights were the fruit.  She received apricots, plums as an add on, raspberries, and Clark Pope Catering’s Roasted Strawberry Balsamic Sauce.  Kelly mentioned that the plum were like heaven in a paper bag.  Even though I wasn’t here last week, I was able to get a bottle of the sauce.  I’m excited to try it out.

IMG953387IMG954499IMG950845

Now onto this week’s bag!

It was 95 degrees when we picked up our bag.  This has been one hot day!  I was glad to quickly get everything home and unloaded.

IMG_2790

Here’s what we were expecting to receive:

  • 1 whole chicken or pork roast
  • 1 bunch beets
  • 2 bulb onions
  • 1 bunch carrots or 1 head kohlrabi
  • Approx. 2# tomatoes
  • 1 baby bok choy
  • 2 lbs. peaches
  • 1 bunch spinach
  • 1 lb. garlic scape and black pepper linguini
  • 2 lbs. apricots
  • 2 ct. cucumbers
  • 2 ct. zucchini

We love the spinach.  It’s quite versatile.  We already used some in our white sauce tonight.  I’m not a big tomato person.  I think they are “guishy”.  I’m such a texture eater.  I’m not sure if I’ll ever like them.  Some other Fresh Fork CSA folks were talking about having a tomato tasting party.  I might be swayed to participate if that were to occur.  For now, these will be eaten by Stephen and Nick or I’ll use them in sauce.

IMG_2792IMG_2793

I have a total of 4 zucchini and I am making fritters for lunch tomorrow.  I’m not sure why we got extra cucumbers, but they are great for snacking and salads.  Since we don’t have any lettuce at the moment, I suspect these will become snacks for the weekend.  I may try my hand at a quick relish.

IMG_2794IMG_2795

Some of the onion will go into our pulled pork and coleslaw recipes.  The rest will be chopped and frozen for future use.  We ate almost all of the carrots at dinner.  The leftover ones will be gone at lunch tomorrow.

IMG_2796IMG_2797

Our apricots aren’t going to last long.  They are very ripe.  I’m thinking of making smoothies with them tomorrow since it’s going to be another scorcher.  I contemplated an apricot dessert, but I’m not sure I want to turn on the oven.  Maybe, I’ll get creative.  We’ve been enjoying peaches in our oatmeal each morning.  With 4 of us, these won’t last long.

IMG_2798IMG_2799

Bok choy always stumps me.  I just don’t have a great go to recipe for it.  It usually just ends up in a stir fry for Stephen.  I’m going to make pulled pork with the roast tomorrow.  I am going to put the crock pot in the basement so our whole house doesn’t heat up while it cooks.

IMG_2800IMG_2801

We’re going to grill the beets this week.  We have a kohlrabi to use as well.  We didn’t get our pasta when we picked up our bag.  Since I was out anyway, I stopped back to get it on our way home from the spray ground.  It went straight to boiling water for dinner and had already missed it’s photo opportunity.

IMG_2802

I’m not going to say that every CSA week is easy, but I like feeling like I finally have the hang of it.  I’m looking forward to eating fresh and local this weekend.

Today was the 5th pickup for the Geauga Family Farms CSA.  I feel so out of the loop after being on vacation for 2 weeks.  We got back Sunday night, but I still am in that not quite back to reality phase.  The Whole Foods pickup has been different every week.  I hope we get some consistency soon.  I really miss Andrew manning the table.

Here’s what we received this week:

IMG_2776

I think it’s a pretty easy identification week, but just in case I’ll list them.

zucchini, cucumbers

IMG_2777IMG_2779

sugar snap peas, candy onion

IMG_2780IMG_2781

small head of cauliflower, blueberries

IMG_2782IMG_2783

tomato, kohlrabi

IMG_2784IMG_2785

lettuce, cabbage

IMG_2786IMG_2787

I was quite excited to pick up our share today.  We picked up a few things at the store yesterday since our fridge was bare from being gone 2 weeks, but for the most part, we were still lacking in produce.

The last couple zucchini were shredded and put in the freezer.  I’m going to make squash fritters tomorrow so these don’t fall victim to the freezer later in the week.  The cucumber, tomato and lettuce will go into salad with tomorrow’s grilling.  I’ll probably have Stephen grill the kohlrabi, too.  The kids will snack on the peas.  The blueberries will go on cereal for breakfast.  I now have two head of cauliflower since I bought one yesterday.  One head will just be steamed and served plain.  I’m thinking of making a au gratin dish with the other.

I have a cole slaw  recipe that I love that involves cabbage, apple, pineapple juice, onion, raisins, blue cheese and a simple dressing.  I’m going to look for it since I don’t think I could quite make it from memory.  It’s a great summer dish and I think I have all of the ingredients on hand.  Once I find the recipe, I’ll try to get my version in a post soon.  We’re sure to see cabbage again.

My goal is to use 100% of this share up before I pick up our other one on Friday.

Today, we had our second pick up at the new Mayfield location.  Dan and Kyle were pretty busy when we arrived, so we didn’t get a chance to talk to them.  Everything looked like it was running smoothly.  I’m still getting used to reading the rest of the share list.  Since this is our first time with a large, I keep forgetting to read past the “small CSA share” list.

Small CSA Share

  • 2# black turtle beans
  • 1 bag corn chips
  • 1 # chorizo sausage
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 1 head red leaf lettuce
  • 1 head either baby bok choy or 1 bunch swiss chard (depends on stop)
  • 1 head jumbo white stem bok choy
  • 1.5# red slicing tomatoes (approximately 3 tomatoes)
  • 1 lb. snow peas

Large CSA Share Small contents above plus:

  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 bunch red kale
  • 1 lb. snow peas
  • 2 ct. zucchini
  • 1 package chicken brats

It’s hard to get a shot that shows all of the items in a large:

IMG_2090

I’m getting ready to leave on vacation, so I’ll be prepping the lettuce for my husband to eat in salads.  I’ll be cooking the cauliflower for a side dish tomorrow and/or for Stephen to eat while the kids and I are gone.

IMG_2091IMG_2092

I’m going to make soup or a stir fry with the bok choy.  I’ll use some of the peas and onions in that dish.

IMG_2105IMG_2093IMG_2103IMG_2102

I put the meats in the freezer.  I’ll probably cook up the chorizo tomorrow.  I will probably make a cold salad with quinoa, chorizo, onions, cilantro, lime, etc.  We’ll pack some for the road this weekend and leave the rest for Stephen to enjoy.  The brats will magically disappear while I’m away with the kids or we’ll enjoy them in July.  The last time I made the brats, I simmered them in beer on the stove.  They were quite tasty.

IMG_2094IMG_2095

I still had a couple of zucchini in the fridge, so I am making my fritters with them tomorrow.

IMG_2097IMG_2098

I’m soaking the beans tonight so I can cook them tomorrow.  I’ll use some of them and the cilantro in the quinoa salad and freezer the rest.

IMG_2099IMG_2101

I haven’t decided on the kale yet.  I just got a kale recipes book in the mail today, so maybe I’ll be inspired to cook something new with it.  The beets were subbed for some of the peas.  They are getting added to a few I have in the fridge for a pickled beets recipe that looked promising.  I hope to make them tomorrow.

IMG_2107IMG_2104

We often buy these corn chips as extras, so they will disappear quickly.

IMG_2106

Once again, the truck didn’t have any of our favorite yogurt with them, but I was able to pick up some of our favorite granola and milk while we were at our stop.

I’m glad to be going on vacation, but I hate that I’ll miss all of the fun CSA contents for the next two weeks.
